Setting up your Markov account

Reviewed by Yash Mahesh Jaiswal, SEBI Research Analyst · Last reviewed: 22 July 2026

What you need before you start

  • An Android device shown as compatible on the official Google Play listing.
  • An active Indian mobile number that can receive SMS one-time passwords.
  • A working email address.
  • A few minutes of uninterrupted signal — KYC happens later, but the initial sign-up needs a stable connection.

Step 1 — install the app

Install Markov from the official Google Play listing. Play verifies the app signature and delivers updates. Do not install APK files sent through chat groups or unofficial download sites.

Step 2 — verify your phone

The app sends a six-digit code over SMS. Type it back in. If the SMS doesn't arrive in 60 seconds, tap Resend — most failures are carrier-side and clear on the second attempt.

Step 3 — confirm your email

You'll be asked for your email so we can send GST invoices and the occasional service notice. We don't add you to marketing lists from this field. You can change it later from Settings → Account.

Step 4 — choose your interests

Pick the index segments (NIFTY, BANKNIFTY) and any individual stocks you want notifications for. You can grow or shrink this list anytime from the Watchlist tab.

What's next

That's it for the basics. The next step is one-time KYC — see Completing KYC. Until KYC is done you can browse the index signal feed; the full per-stock feed unlocks once KYC clears.
