Deleting your account under DPDP
Last reviewed: 25 May 2026
Your right under DPDP
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP") gives every Indian user the right to delete personal data held about them. Markov honours that right end-to-end through an in-app delete flow.
How to delete your account
- Open the app.
- Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Read the confirmation screen carefully — it lists exactly what will be removed, what will be retained for regulatory reasons, and the irreversibility of the action.
- Type DELETE to confirm and submit.
What gets deleted
- Your profile (name, email, phone, settings).
- Your journal entries and any private notes.
- Your in-app session and device tokens.
- Your subscription record (once any active billing period closes).
What we keep — and why
SEBI requires every Research Analyst to retain certain records for five years from the date of the underlying recommendation. The following are kept under that obligation:
- The signed client agreement (Digio).
- The KYC consent record + KYC documents.
- The full signal log we issued during your active period.
- Audit-log entries of regulator-relevant actions.
These records are walled off from any product use after deletion. We won't market to you, surface you in analytics, or use the data for any purpose other than responding to a regulatory query.
Grace window
The account is soft-deleted for 30 days before hard-purge. If you change your mind in that window, email support@markov.in — we can reinstate it. After 30 days the soft-deleted record is hard-purged and cannot be recovered.
Before you delete
Consider requesting a data export first — once the purge runs, anything we held about you that isn't under regulatory retention is gone for good.
